Power Hour!

  • Downstairs

Power Hour! Open Mic is brought to you by Amy Shanker, Sam Evans, and Cameron Ford. Originating in Chicago, this mic mixes your hot new bits with some beer and piano. While you’re working on getting famous, a designated weekly “drinker” is on stage beside you working on a pitcher or 2 of beer. He or she will occasionally chime in to riff with your set. This is a fun, no-fail mic; if you drop the ball, the drinker will pick it up. And don’t worry! At the end of the mic, we’ll watch as the drinker attempts to do their set.

Bucket at 6:50

Start time: 7PM Saturdays Downstairs at Creek and the Cave

Power Hour! was created/hosted by Chris Damen with Keith Paesel, Ken Witzgall, Ashley Huck, and Cameron Ford at the Gallery Cabaret in Chicago, IL.

HOW WE DO

“How We Do (Sketches of the Species)” is a sketch-comedy show that takes aim at the enduring lower states of human behavior, from ridiculous to abhorrent. Since lampooning magnificent achievements of humanity isn’t really funny, we descend. Nitwits, zealots, racists, creeps and predators alike are portrayed in all their absurd, uncensored, hilarious glory for a shared cathartic release of exasperation. And a reminder that we ALL can do better. The show is dedicated to all kids who innately recognized their bad parenting, told their parents to fuck off and went out into the world in a brave pursuit of truth.

Only to encounter…Homo sapiens.

Welcome to the Church of Jokes hosted by Khalil Rashad and Paul Julmeus where we offer 2 and half minutes of stage time to all levels.

NYC Talent Show is the world’s greatest open stage and a real New York City Tradition. It’s a decade old art performance show started at Bowery Poetry Club by  Diane O’Debra and Victor Varnado where anyone can walk on stage whether they are a first time performer or a seasoned veteran and get treated like a star. A star that leaves the stage when bellman’s bell is rung telling them that their time on stage is over.

Now exclusively streamed live on Camfrog, you can come down and entertain thousands every week or watch everyone having fun at watchhavingfun.com

Performers on the show have included Kristen Schaal, Hannibal Buress, Jim Gaffigan, and Jonathan Aimes.

Rules:

– 6 minutes of stage time
– The first performer always gets paid
– No Heckling (unless the performer starts it)
– If you make us say “Holy Shit” with your performance, you get a free drink.
